The prize is intended for research projects and studies on Filippo Cavolini, original documents by the previous author, preserved at the headquarters of the Society of Naturalists in Naples. The activity must be produced by one or more students, with the support of a supervisor.

Condividiamo con voi ciò che gli studenti del Trinity College hanno imparato grazie allo studio dei manoscritti di Filippo Cavolini conservati e archiviati presso la Società dei Naturalisti di Napoli. Il loro lavoro è stato completato in un corso del primo anno di Humanities Gateway intitolato “Poteri di osservazione”. Humanities Gateway del Trinity College mira ad aiutare gli studenti ad approfondire ed espandere il loro impegno verso le discipline umanistiche abbinando due corsi innovativi e coinvolgenti durante ogni semestre dell'anno accademico, autunno e primavera. “Poteri di osservazione” di questo autunno ha esplorato come concettualizzare, come comprendere storicamente e come praticare l'osservazione del mondo naturale. Questo non è un corso di scienze naturali. Sebbene abbiamo imparato l’empirismo e il valore dell’obiettività che enfatizza l’osservazione scientifica, i nostri sforzi principali si sono concentrati sull’interpretazione di come gli osservatori umani in diversi contesti culturali e storici costruiscono una domanda fondamentale che ci orienta verso il mondo: “Cosa è successo qui?”

- Candidates must be students enrolled in an Italian or foreign school or university.
- Each individual student or work group can submit only one application per calendar year.
- The application form is available on the SNN website: https://www.societanaturalistinapoli.it.
- Applications must be accompanied by the following documentation:
- short CV with photo of the candidates and supervisor
- a project proposal of no more than 2000 words.
- A summary of the proposal (max 300 characters)
